About

Hello and thanks for visiting! My name is Amanda Jones and I’m a licensed veterinary technician. I’ve been working with dogs and cats in small animal practice since 2000. In 2008, VPI Pet Insurance took a look at their claims and found that ear infections, skin allergies, and hot spots were the most common canine medical conditions for which owners sought veterinary care. I know that many pet owners turn to the Internet for information regarding the health of their pets before (and after) seeking advice from a veterinary professional. I wanted to create a credible source of information online where dog parents could research some of the most common health problems affecting dogs today.

I’ve found that many websites on the Internet publish information that is biased and often created solely for the purpose of making an affiliate sale. Many pitch products that I would never recommend to our clients. Some authors also have very little education in the field of animal health and use other non-credible websites as their source of information. It’s a vicious cycle! I know owners only want to do what’s right for their pet and they deserve to have access to information that is based on facts, not hype or Internet babble. You can rest assured that the articles you read on this website are based 100% on credible research, recent veterinary publications, and my own personal experiences as a veterinary professional. You will find a complete list of references below.

With that in mind, I still encourage you to take everything I say with a grain salt. Your veterinarian will always be your best source of information because next to you, they know your pet better than anyone. The articles on this website are not intended to be used as a substitute for veterinary care. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about this website please use my contact form located here: http://www.dog-skin-allergies.net/contact

I love receiving feedback from my readers but please don’t send a message asking me to diagnose your pet’s medical condition. Thanks again!
